The Andrea Kutsch Academy is targeted towards a young generation of horse-lovers with a thirst for knowledge and the willingness to participate in an intensive educational programme of university standard. We appeal to people whose commitment and personality show that they are ready to embark on an intensive, demanding and instructive full-time course of study.
Admission requirements for the AKA are the higher education entrance qualification (Abitur or Matura), the advanced technical college entrance qualification (Fachhochschulreife) or the secondary school leaving certificate (mittlere Reife) with completed vocational training. We require all applicants for 2008 to have many years' practical experience in working with horses, as well as the Bronze German Riding Badge (Deutsches Reitabzeichen III). This includes a theory and a practical examination, the latter consisting of a Class A dressage test and Class A fault and style jumping. It is not possible to take the German Riding Badge at the Academy. We require proof that you have successfully passed this examination prior to matriculation.
Starting from next year, we will be offering our own qualifications and corresponding examinations for applicants with objections to German National Equestrian Federation badges. However, these will not entitle you to take part in FN sports events.
If your qualifications differ to those specified above or if you wish to verify whether your qualifications fulfil our admission requirements, an internship of varying duration can be completed at the AKA. We recommend an internship period of 4, 8 or 12 months, the exact duration of which will be determined on an individual basis.
The academy selects its students using a differentiated selection process in addition to these formal requirements. Whether or not admission requirements can be met by criteria other than those detailed above will be decided on a case by case basis by the admissions body.
